Three Core Principles Guide All Our Work

Health, income generation, and community partnership — the commitments that connect everything BKB does. Three core principles run through all of BKB’s programs, connecting and strengthening each one: health, income generation, and community partnership. They shape how BKB works, inform our program decisions, and have guided the organization since its founding in 1998. Even as our programs have evolved in response to shifting community priorities and organizational growth, these principles have remained constant — rooted in our values and in a long-term commitment to Uganda’s communities.

Our Values

Our values are not statements on a wall — they shape how every staff member engages with every family, every day.

01

Compassion

We meet families where they are — listening first, acting second, always in service of their goals, not ours.

02

Integrity

We are transparent with our partners, our donors, and the communities we serve. Trust is our most valuable asset.

03

Teamwork and

Co-Creation

We engage only where we are invited, co-create goals with communities, and ensure they own both the process and the outcomes.

04

Sustainability and Stewardship

Every water project, school garden, and education initiative is designed for community ownership and long-term impact — well beyond BKB's direct involvement.
